Warm Welcome to Fr. Gerardo V. Laguartilla, C.PP.S.

St. Margaret's Church and St. Eugene's Chapel welcomes Fr. Gerardo V. Laguartilla, C.PP.S., as its newest Associate Pastor starting Thursday, December 16th 2021.

About Fr. Gerardo

Fr. Gerardo was born in the Philippines on September 24, 1973. Fr. Gerardo received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy in Manila, Bachelor of Sacred Theology from St. Augustine Seminary of Toronto and Master of Divinity at the Toronto School of Theology of the University of Toronto in the year 2019. He entered the Special Formation and admitted to the Candidacy for Holy Orders on October 21, 2017.

He was Incorporate Definitively (Perpetually professed) as Missionaries of the Precious Blood on December 3, 2020 and was ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons on December 26, 2020 in Peru. He was ordained to the Sacred Orders of Presbyters on December 3, 2021, at St. Roch’s Parish in the Archdiocese of Toronto.

He did his pastoral internship, ministries and apostolates at various parishes in the Philippines, in Lima Peru and in the Archdiocese of Toronto which include the parishes of the Precious Blood, St. Charles Borromeo, Our Lady of the Assumption, Transfiguration of Our Lord, St. Clair, St. Alphonsus, St. Roch’s, St. Wilfrid as well as at Good Shepherd Center, Matt Talbot Center and St. Francis Table. In 2019, he was sent to Lima, Peru for Cross-Cultural Pastoral Experience and to represent his province to the historic erection of the Provincia Latinoamericana in 2020. He was a missionary to Peru from 2019 to 2021. In December 16, he begins his appointment to be the Associate Pastor of St. Margaret, Queen of Scotland Parish and in charge of the Parish Mission Church of St. Eugene.

As we thank the Lord for the gift of priesthood and priestly ministry, we ask the intercessions of Mary, the Mother of God, St. Joseph her husband and all the Saints especially St. Gaspar del Bufalo, the Apostle of the Precious Blood, St. Francis Xavier, our Patron, the Canadian & Filipino Martyrs and the Blessed and the Peruvian saints to guide and to make him into the chalice of blessings filled with Blood which is offered to quench his brothers’ and sisters’ thirst for love and that all of us may be faithful to Jesus Christ our Lord.
